The academic conference has been held since 2009, and this year it was held in a hybrid format, combining on-site and online events. Approximately 70 people participated on-site, and pharmacists from approximately 210 locations across the country participated online.

15 presentations on diverse research results

In this competition, the preliminary round of the research seminar 15 papers selected from a total of 50 papers was announced. In addition, a report was given at this conference on "Exploring risk factors for gastrointestinal side effects caused by oral semaglutide formulations ^*2​." This examined factors that make certain medications more likely to cause side effects, based on medication histories written by pharmacists at pharmacies. This suggests the possibility of providing information on side effects that is tailored to each individual patient and supporting continued treatment.

Rigorous judging and announcement of the winners

After all the presentations had been completed, eight external judges conducted a rigorous review process and awarded the prizes. Taking advantage of the benefits of the hybrid format, the "New Pharmacist Audience Award" was selected by votes from 190 new pharmacists of the Tsuruha Group who participated online. Furthermore, based on Tsuruha Holdings' management philosophy of "bringing richness and comfort to our customers' lives," the presentation that best reflected the philosophy was awarded the "Tsuruha HD President's Special Award."

September 23, 2023 15th Tsuruha Group Academic Presentation Conference

The Tsuruha Group Academic Presentation Conference, which began in 2009, will reach its 15th milestone in 2023. Previously, the 13th and 14th events were held online, but this time it was held at Asti 45 (Sapporo, Hokkaido) in a hybrid format that combined on-site and online events. On the day of the event, there were approximately 70 local participants, and online viewing was conducted by in-house pharmacists at approximately 240 locations nationwide.

At this competition, 17 presentations were made, mainly those selected from a total of 45 presentations from the research seminar, which was the preliminary round. The presentation will discuss pharmaceutical care for specific diseases, collaboration with hospitals through documentation and monitoring of side effects, and women's health consultation to examine the need for pharmacist intervention in women's health issues. A wide range of research results were reported, including examples of attempts to establish counters.

Furthermore, at this conference, a report was presented on the ``Survey on awareness of universal design ^*1 in insurance pharmacies and the current state of implementation.'' It was shown that in the future, it is necessary to consider not only measures aimed at those with less awareness, but also the creation of stores that take universal design into account and the establishment of an information dissemination system.

After all presentations had been submitted, awards were given after a strict examination by eight external judges. In addition, taking advantage of the hybrid format, we have selected the ``New Pharmacist Audience Award'', which is chosen by voting by new Tsuruha Group pharmacists who participate online. September 18, 2022 14th Tsuruha Group Academic Presentation Conference

At the last conference, we were able to take on the challenge of holding the conference online, which was a new format, and it was a great success that we were able to provide an opportunity for in-house pharmacists, who would normally have difficulty coming to Sapporo, to participate. After careful consideration from the perspective of preventing the spread of infection, we decided to hold the 14th event online.On the day of the event, it was streamed in real time on YouTube, and was viewed by in-house pharmacists at over 150 venues nationwide.

At the conference, 17 presentations were made, including presentations selected from 51 presentations at the research seminar held as a preliminary round and presentations recommended by the Group Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Affairs Department. Presenters were also selected from Drug Eleven Co., Ltd., with which we formed a capital alliance in May 2020, making it a memorable event as all eight operating companies gathered together for the first time.

This conference will include presentations in the field of chemical pharmaceutical sciences that examine changes in composition during pulverization, as well as presentations on trending tracing reports and RMP ^*1, and presentations for patients with specific diseases such as cancer and diabetes. A wide variety of presentations were made, including efforts to improve the health of patients.One of the presentations was ``The usage status of cedar pollen fever desensitization therapy drug (^Cedacure®) ^*2 and how pharmacists should be involved.'' There was an announcement.

Desensitization therapy for cedar hay fever is a drug that improves the symptoms of cedar hay fever by administering a small amount of the drug containing an extract made from cedar pollen and gradually getting the body used to it. Due to its characteristics, it is necessary to continue taking the drug every day for a long period of time.This study revealed the period and number of years during which it is easy to stop taking the drug.This allows pharmacists to decide when to start and continue taking the drug. This suggests that it may be possible to take into account the number of years and place more emphasis on responding during periods when the dropout rate is high.

After all presentations have been completed, awards will be given through a strict examination by seven external judges, and, as in last year, the winners will be determined by votes from new Tsuruha Group pharmacists who are attending the lecture online, taking advantage of the online event. ​Approximately 230 people from Tsuruha Group stores nationwide participated, and a total of 16 excellent presentations were presented at the main meeting, selected from the "research seminars" held in each district. Oral presentations were given on a variety of themes, including approaches to polypharmacy (the occurrence of adverse events such as side effects due to the use of many drugs), family pharmacists, and work from home.

Among the presentations, there was a case study on"intervention by pharmacy pharmacists for proper use of antimicrobials". It was announced that pharmacy pharmacists will provide face-to-face guidance on the proper use of antimicrobials to patients to raise awareness and promote the proper use of antimicrobials.
The increase in drug-resistant bacteria against the background of inappropriate use of antimicrobials has become a major issue not only in Japan but also in the international community. It is expected that efforts by pharmacists will help solve these problems.

Contribute to the further improvement and development of pharmacist work by finding interesting themes in daily work, actively conducting research and research, and announcing the results. for the purpose of The 10th Tsuruha Group Academic Presentation Meeting was held at Sapporo Asty 45 on Sunday, July 15, 2018.

​About 280 people from Tsuruha Group stores nationwide participated, and a total of 22 excellent presentations were announced at the main meeting, selected from the "research seminars" held in each district. Oral presentations were given on a variety of themes, including new approaches to medication guidance, promotion of self-medication, and work from home.

Among the presentations, there was an example of working on "improving the response of dispensing pharmacies to patients with hearing impairments." The speaker's pharmacy used to communicate with hearing-impaired patients by writing, but it was not possible to achieve satisfactory communication. For this reason, we conducted a questionnaire survey of medical professionals and hearing-impaired patients, improved the response at pharmacies, and created tools. It was considered that improved communication and the use of tools would lead to enhanced communication, a sense of security regarding drug treatment, and appropriate drug management.

In the question-and-answer session held after each presentation, in addition to the participants, 12 professors from universities who were invited as judges asked sharp questions. Based on the questions we receive, we will not only improve the level of research conducted by the speakers, but also the entire Tsuruha Group.

At the end of the competition, 1 best presentation award, 3 excellent presentation awards, and 2 special presentation awards were selected. In addition to the award-winning initiatives, useful presentations are brushed up on the new knowledge and considerations obtained at this conference, and are presented externally, such as at the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan.
